My name is Patricia Gatto De Angelis. My Italian families are from Bronte, Catania, Sicilia, and Cerrisi, Decollatura, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italia.
My grandparents immigrated to Carbondale, Lackawanna, Pennsylvania, USA, where they met, married and raised their children.
I was born and raised in New Jersey, but moved to Tafton, PA at Lake Wallenpaupack several years ago with my husband John and my son Alexander.
I have a passion for family history and I am working on reconstructing my Gatto Ancestry Lines. My ultimate goal is not only to document the past, but also, to make Gatto Connections with families from around the world. Because of my interest in history, culture and family traditions, I would love to hear from anyone that has any connection to these areas, even if we don’t have a specific ancestral tie.
I wish you success in your ancestry quest. But perhaps more importantly, I hope your journey leads to the joy of finding new and meaningful family connections!

THE CALABRIAN CONNECTION
I would like to express my sincere gratitude and admiration to my fifth cousin, Mary Jo Loyd.
Over a ten year period, Mary Jo, along with her partner and internet cousin, Sam Tomaino, have extracted all the birth, marriage and death records (1810-1860) microfilmed by the LDS for the Decollatura Region of Calabria. Not only have they reconstructed their own families, but they have reconstructed all of the families from this region and traced many lines to present times.
I lovingly refer to Mary Jo as the “Keeper of the Key” and the “Master of my Ancestral Universe.” That is not an exaggeration, she truly is.
Please check out Mary Jo’s website at http://www.italygenes.com/ Perhaps you too, can find your Calabrian Connection. I know she would love to hear from you!
